The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed that airspace at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Terminal One, has reopened following a fire outbreak yesterday.

Announcing the development, managing Director, OLUBUNMI KUKU stated that no fatalities were recorded, though six people sustained minor injuries during the incident.

KUKU confirmed that emergency response teams swiftly contained the fire, with three international flights, Emirates, British Airways, and Lufthansa diverted as a precaution.

She stressed that the ongoing renovation projects were not in the area where the fire occurred, and confirmed that the Emergency Operations Centre, led by the airport manager as Chief Safety and Security Officer remains fully operational.
