The Governor of Enugu State, PETER MBAH, yesterday swore in a new Head of Service, six new Commissioners, and reassigned three others.
MBAH, during his speech at the Oath taking event which took place at the State Executive Council Chamber, Government House, led by the representative of the Ministry of Justice, CHIZOBA OGBODO, charged the appointees to hit the ground running,
The Governor, also urged the appointees to work as a team, in line with the vision of his administration.
The newly sworn-in appointees included, GODWIN ANIGBO, Head of Service; BENJAMIN OSITA OKOH, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure; Professor. BENEDETT EKWUTOSI OKOLI, Commissioner for Human Development and Poverty Eradication; ENYINNA OGBONNA, Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, and SAMUEL OGBU-NWOBODO, Commissioner for Trade, Investment, and Industry.
Others are; Professor GEORGE UGWU, Commissioner for Health and BEN COLLINS NDU Junior, who was designated as the Commissioner for Water Resources, while FELIX NNAMANI was reassigned from the Ministry of Water Resources, to the Commissioner, Ministry of Labour and Employment; MALACHY AGBO from the Ministry of Human Development and Poverty Eradication to the Ministry of Information, andthe former Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, GERALD OTIJI, has become the Commissioner for Housing.
The swearing in ceremony comes a day after the screening and confirmation of the six new commissioner by the Enugu State House of Assembly.
While fielding questions during the screening session, BENJAMIN OSITA OKOH, hadassured that he would involve registered professionals like architects and structural engineers in the design and construction of infrastructure projects to ensure adherence to specification in accordance with best global practice; adding that as a former executive member of Council or registered Engineers of Nigeria, COREN, he would not compromise on issues bordering integrity and established standard practices.
In his remark, the Speaker of the House, UCHE UGWU, congratulated the commissioners for their appointment, urging them to justify it through their performance in the office.
