Former Super Falcons captain, ONOME EBI has announced her retirement from professional football.

Announcing the news on her X handle last night,,  EBI expressed gratitude that the journey, though filled with challenges, has helped to  shape her into who she is today,  while pledging to give back, guide, and be a voice for players across Africa and beyond, even after the retirement.

The 43-year-old whose career has spanned for more than two decades, began her journey with Omidiran Babes in 2001, where she played for seven years.

She is the Super Falcons’ most capped player, with 109 appearances, having won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations four times (2010, 2014, 2016, 2018).

The defender is also the only African footballer to have featured in six FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments.
