A Senator representing Bayelsa West, Seriake Dickson, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the newly registered Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.

Dickson made the announcement today during a media briefing in Abuja, explaining that persistent internal conflicts within the PDP had weakened the party’s structure, making it difficult for many members, including himself, to remain at the party.

The former Bayelsa State governor also expressed concern that the PDP has lost its influence on key national issues, noting that the prolonged leadership crisis has significantly undermined the party.

He added that the NDC, recently registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, would serve as the opposition party Nigerians desire, urging citizens to align and register under the new party in pursuit of a better Nigeria.
