The Federal Government has appealed to United States President DONALD TRUMP to adopt a more understanding and collaborative approach toward Nigeria’s security situation.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, MOHAMMED IDRIS, made the appeal during a press briefing yesterday in Abuja, which comes days after President TRUMP threatened possible military action against Nigeria over allegations of genocide against Christians.

IDRIS emphasized that Nigeria, as a vast multi-ethnic and multi-religious nation, is making steady progress in economic reforms and in strengthening its security framework, adding that constructive dialogue and cooperation remain the most effective ways to promote peace and stability, both in Nigeria and globally.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to ending terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes, the minister said the Federal Government continues to record major successes in the fight against insurgency, particularly in the North-East.
