FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SEEKS SPEEDY TRIAL OF TERRORISTS.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minster of Justice, LATEEF FAGBEMI has called on the judiciary to speed up hearings in cases involving terrorism, human trafficking, kidnapping and other violent crimes, underlining that the arm of government must support national efforts to combat insecurity.

The AGF made the appeal during the ceremony marking the commencement of the Court of Appeal 2025/2026 Legal Year, in Abuja

In his remarks, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, NYESOM WIKE, who also attended the event pledged improved accommodation for judges to allow them discharge their responsibilities without interferences associated with poor living conditions.

The AGF emphasized that collective effort is crucial to combat the nation’s security issues, urging judges to collaborate with the government by accelerating terrorism trials.

While acknowledging that the courts needed more personnel, he said the present administration was committed to strengthening the judiciary.
