The Federal Government has commented on reports of an alleged failed coup to topple the administration of President BOLA TINUBU.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, MOHAMMED IDRIS, in an interview, said the government had faith in the military and had no reason to doubt the position of the Defence Headquarters, which earlier dismissed the report of a coup as fake.

In a statement by the Director of Defence Information, TUKUR GUSAU, the military over the weekend denied reports linking the detention of 16 military officers to a failed coup, which also attributed the cancellation of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day by the Federal Government to the alleged coup plot.

Dismissing the report in an official statement, GUSAU condemned the speculation, saying it was intended to cause unnecessary tension and distrust among the populace.
