A Distinguished Professor of Business Administration and current Director, Industrial Training Unit of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ADONAI OKONKWO, has advocated the use of forensic Science to enhance trade security as it will help in counterfeit detection, product authentication, supply chain integrity, intellectual property protection and risk assessment.
Professor Okonkwo who made this call while delivering the 49th Inaugural Lecture of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, titled, “Forensic Science and Global Trade: Enhancing Trade Turnover Through Scientific Integrity” held at Barr. PETER NDUBUISI MBAH Multi Purpose Auditorium, ESUT, Agbani, noted that as international commerce becomes increasingly complex, forensic sciences must evolve to meet new challenges and safeguard the integrity of global economy.
Speaking further on the benefits of Forensic science as the application of scientific principles and methods or techniques to investigate and analyze evidence, often in context of crime or legal procedures .
Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman of the occasion and vice chancellor of ESUT, Prof. ALOYSIUS-MICHAELS OKOLIE urged professors to see inaugural lectures as a way of mentoring, guiding and directing students in their academic pursuits and making impact in their academic environment.
Urban Radio Correspondent, EMEKA CHIBUOKE reports that the highlights of the inaugural lecture include the presentation of 50 copies of the inaugural lecture booklets, a plaque and certificate to Prof. Okonkwo, by Prof. MELLITUS EZEAMENYI, Chairman of the ESUT Inaugural Lecture Committee, as well the handing over of cheques of N1m to Prof. Okonkwo, courtesy of chairman of the Governing Council, CHINYAKA OHA, and a cheque of N500,000 from another member of the governing council, Engr. AKUVUE, adding that the event was graced by the provost of college of Medicine, ESUT. Prof. UCHENNA EKWOMCHI, Registrar of ESUT, AMBROSE UGWU, Auxiliary Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Most Rev. Ernest Obodo, alongside the 50th ESUT Inaugural lecturer who delivered the vote of thanks prof;Francis Okechukwu Chikeleze.
