The Governor of Enugu State Peter Mbah says his administration has identified insecurity as the major cog in the wheel of the state growth plan and has negatively affected the well-being of the people both psychologically, socially, physically, and economically.
Mbah who made the statement yesterday when the Chief of Defense Staff, General Lucky Irabor, and other top military officers paid him a courtesy visit at Government House Enugu, noted that security of lives and property ranked highest in the ease of doing business and pointed out that investors would not choose Enugu as their preferred destination if the safety of their investments were not guaranteed.
The Governor who assured Irabor that they will continue to support the military and other security agencies, appealed to him to ensure that the military adheres strictly to their constitutional mandate of protecting the country’s territorial integrity.
In his remark, IRABOR told MBAH that he was in Enugu with his team to ascertain the level of impact the directives from the defense headquarters had made on military formations in the zone.
The Chief of Defense Staff expressed the readiness of the defense headquarters to engage more in its interactions with stakeholders in Enugu state and the entire South East zone for improved results.
Urban Radio Correspondent IFEYINWA OGBUE said present at the meeting were some representatives from various stakeholders including traditional and religious leaders, civil society, and student organizations.
