ENUGU STATE GOVERNMENT TO DOMESTICATE DIGITAL ECONOMY, E-GOVERNANCE BILLS

The Enugu state government has assured its readiness to domesticate the digital economy, e-governance bills when passed into law.

 The Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, LAWRENCE EZE made this known in his address at the digital economy, e-governance stakeholders’ engagement, organised by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy in collaboration with Enugu state Government on Tuesday at the Old Government Lodge, Enugu.

On his part, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, and Digital Economy, ARINZE CHILO–OFFIAHnoted that the state government is upskilling digital training for civil servants, adding that the bill will improve cybersecurity, promote digital economy, and enhance governance.

 Speaking to newsmen after his presentation, a representative of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, JEFFERY NWAALIMA, stated that the bill which will run in phases: 0-2years will focus on digital training and building basic infrastructure, while the second phase, 3-5 years, will cover implementation, skills development, e-services, and technological services, among other phases.
