United States (U.S) President Donald Trump says he is ending trade talks with Canada over an anti-tariff advertising campaign, following a cordial White House meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Trump, in a post on his Truth Social network, expressed anger at what he described as a  fake advertisement that allegedly misquoted former US President Ronald Reagan on tariff policy.

He claimed the campaign produced by the Canadian province of Ontario and set to air on U.S. television networks is designed to interfere with the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court, which is expected to rule on his sweeping global tariffs.

Consequently, Trump declared, all trade negotiations with Canada terminated.
