President BOLA TINUBU has urged the World Bank to back Nigeria’s economic overhaul, spotlighting agriculture, employment, and private sector growth as key pillars that his administration considers vital for both boosting the economy and creating broader opportunities for Nigerians.
President TINUBU made the call yesterday while receiving a delegation from the World Bank led by its Managing Director of Operations, ANNA BJERDE, at the State House, Abuja.
The president emphasized the need for agricultural mechanization and modernization to boost productivity and create meaningful opportunities for Nigeria’s vast youth population.
In her remarks, BJERDE commended President TINUBU’s administration for its consistent reform efforts over the past two years, noting that Nigeria has emerged as a global example of effective reform implementation that is boosting investors’ and policymakers’ confidence.
She further stressed the critical need for job creation, especially for youth, highlighting that Africa’s rapidly growing young population makes supporting Small and Medium-sized Enterprises essential for broad-based employment.
