The Presidency has accused the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2023 general election, Atiku Abubakar, of being envious of President Bola Tinubu, especially as he failed repeatedly to secure the position after several attempts.
The criticism is conveyed in a signed statement issued yesterday by Special Adviser to the president on Media and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, claiming that Atiku’s idea of a consultation period upon entering office as proposed strategic economic reforms he would introduce to mitigate the fuel subsidy removal and alleviate suffering of Nigerians if he were the president, indicates a troubling lack of awareness regarding the state of the economy, which was in dire need of urgent action.
Onanuga stated that the Nigerian economy demands urgent and decisive action, and that a leader must be prepared to confront challenges from the very first day, as President Tinubu has demonstrated.
He applauded Tinubu’s administration for a firm action plan to address the shortcomings that persisted during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s time when Atiku was vice president.
