The Programme Manager Albino Foundation Ndifreke Ferdinand has reiterated the need to sensitize persons with disability on their right to participate actively in the forthcoming elections, in a bid to increase the numerical strength of people with disabilities across Nigeria, not just as voters but also in elective and appointive positions.
Ferdinand who revealed this yesterday at the launch of a zonal campaign, Able To Vote, organized by the foundation at Bridge Waters Hotel, GRA, Enugu State, said they are intentional about curbing voter apathy amongst persons with disability, through a voter Education Campaign.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner Enugu State, Chukwuemeka Joseph Chukwu, said that INEC will not relent in recognizing persons with disability in every one of their activities during the election.
The Vice Chairman Joint National Association of Persons with Disability, Nkanu Chapter, Ekwochi Chigozie, lauded INEC, for their keen interest in ensuring that persons with disability exercise their franchise with ease in the 2023 general election.
Urban Radio Correspondent Ifeyinwa Ogbue, reports that the programme, Able to Vote is funded by the European Union, through its European Union Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria, EUSDGN Program, and was attended by a good number of Albinos and Persons with Disability.
