MANCHESTER CITY SUFFERS A HUMILIATING DEFEAT AGAINST SPORTING LISBON.

Viktor Gyokeres yesterday scored a hat-trick as Ruben Amorim’s Sporting Lisbon stunned Manchester City with a 4-1 win in the Champions League.

Though Phil Foden put Manchester City ahead early on, but Sporting’s Gyokeres took the centre stage and equalised seven minutes before half-time, holding off Champions League debutant Jahmai Simpson-Pusey as he ran through to finish.

Sporting took the lead just 19 seconds into the second half when Maximiliano Araujo completed a well-executed move and moments later, Gyokeres scored from the penalty spot after Josko Gvardiol committed a foul.

 City had a chance to reduce the deficit, but Erling Haaland’s penalty struck the crossbar, while Gyokeres, on the other hand, converted his second penalty to complete a hat-trick, making it Manchester City’s shocking European defeat since their 3-0 loss to Liverpool in April 2018.

With Sporting Lisbon, victory, it’s head coach,  Reuben Amorim  would be gearing up to commence his new coaching role at Manchester United on Monday,November 11
