The Federal Government has announced that suspects linked to the deadly attacks in Yelwata, Benue State, will be formally arraigned in court today.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued yesterday by the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, revealing that suspects will appear before Justice JOYCE ABDULMALIK of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

The AGF’s office said the decision followed what it described as a painstaking investigation and extensive collaboration among relevant government agencies.

The Yelwata killings occurred in June 2025 in the Yelwata community of Guma Local Government Area, Benue State, where suspected armed herdsmen reportedly carried out coordinated assaults on homes, a local market, and a Catholic mission.

More than 100 people were reported killed, while about 3,000 residents were displaced from their homes.
