ENUGU MULTIPLE AUTO CRASH KILLS 10 PEOPLE

The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the death of ten persons in two separate fatal road accidents that occurred yesterday along the Ozalla/4-Corner Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, the first accident occurred around 9 a.m. and involved a Howo  cement truck bearing the inscription ‘Visco Investment Global’ which collided with a Toyota Corolla, a Foton bus, and a Daihatsu Hijet mini bus, killing all five occupants of the Corolla and one passenger of the mini bus.

Similarly, at about 3 p.m. on the same road, another fatal crash occurred when a Sino truck belonging to Global Investment carrying bags of cement rammed into a tricycle, resulting in the death of its four occupants.

The command also noted that ten  other persons injured in the separate crashes are currently receiving medical attention.

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, while mourning the tragic loss of lives and commiserating with the families of the deceased, directed the State Motor Traffic Department to carry out a diligent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accidents
