The Imo State Commissioner of Police TIWO LEKANU yesterday demanded for a comprehensive list of orphanage home operators in the State after revealing that it has not been easy tracking some of the child traffickers in the state particularly those who use orphanages as shield as the rate of child trafficking continues to ascend in the state.
LEKANU stated after a meeting with the members of Association of Orphanages and Homes Operators in Nigeria (ASOHON), held at the capital, OWERRI.
He asked the group to provide, without further delay, a complete list of their members for easy identification and that the association should report anybody who failed to register to the police for immediate action. The commissioner warned those who operate orphanages without being properly registered that they would be tagged illegal, shut down and prosecuted.
